Justin Gold, our founder, started making nut butter in his kitchen with a food processer, the best ingredients he could get his hands on, and a hope to make something just right for fueling his fast-moving, adventure-filled days. This is the story of how it all started!
As a vegetarian living an active lifestyle, Justin was on a mission to create something butter…er, better. Given that nut butter was a staple in his diet, plain old peanut butter just wasn’t going to cut it. He dreamt up his own flavors and started experimenting! After weeks of hungry roommates stealing his taste creations, he decided to write his name on the jar – and what’s where the real story begins.
Justin’s family and friends encouraged him to start selling nut butter at the Boulder Farmers’ Market. With the support of the community, the jars of nut butter were an instant hit at the farmers’ market! He used this success to gain distribution at local retailers.
The company begin expanding nationally with the support of retailers and people like you finding and trying our products! As the company has grown, in addition to launching new, mindfully sourced products, we’re committed to making the world a better place through our corporate social responsibility efforts. These include prioritizing sustainable ingredients and packaging, pollinator conservation and hunger relief. While the Justin’s® brand has evolved over the years, the passion, craft, and care remain.
